Taking into consideration that the teacher has to grade more than twenty pieces of homework for one class alone and would also have to handle the other classes as well for the number of subjects taken the teacher has to spend more than three hours marking assignments and grading homework.
The question is how much homework be given to a student and how often? , What impact should homework have on a student’s grade? , Are students doing their homework and are they enjoying it at the same time? To make things effective homework needs to be seen as a tool and should be used properly. The knowledge that a student gets in doing a homework and its usefulness pay a vital role in the planning process before a homework is allotted by the teachers. Teachers give homework because we need it and also because they have to.
Too much of homework will definitely burden the students and is a major cause for school burn outs. Once the student reaches home he or she is often quizzed by their parents “Do you have any homework to be done?”. He reaches school without completing a homework and asks his friend “Can i copy your homework?” . The teacher enters the class and questions him “Did you do last night’s homework?”. With homework in all the subjects it is sure to causes immense stress in the minds of students. Homework is not a bad thing, too much homework is.
